Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique’s admiration for one first-team Manchester United player is something that Michael Carrick will need to find a solution for this summer.
Manchester United will face another major test on their pre-season tour, as Michael Carrick’s men are set to face the current Champions League title holders on Saturday.
Carrick has seen the Red Devils chalk up back-to-back wins over Rosenborg and Atletico Madrid after Man Utd’s 1-0 defeat to Wrexham in Finland in July.
Luis Enrique’s men will visit the Gamla Ullevi in Gothenburg at the weekend for the United match, but the Spaniard won’t be crossing paths with Marcus Rashford.

Luis Enrique’s ultimate praise for Marcus Rashford shows the history shared between the Man Utd star and the PSG boss
Marcus Rashford has not reported back to the Carrington training complex at the time of writing after receiving an extended break following this summer’s World Cup.
The 28-year-old’s future remains uncertain after Barcelona did not sign him permanently in the summer, following his season-long loan at the Camp Nou.
Rashford has a history with former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, who was Spain manager at the time of England’s 3-2 win in the Nations League in 2018.
The Manchester United star featured in a front three alongside Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane for England, as the trio fell under the “world-class” bracket for Enrique.
“They defended very well, were well positioned in their half and then came out on the counter with world-class players like Kane, Rashford and Sterling,” Enrique said at the Benito Villamarin Stadium, as per Sky Sports in 2018.
Fast-forward from 2018 to 2024 and Rashford would be connected to the PSG side that was undergoing a major overhaul under Enrique’s reign in the French capital.
According to TEAMtalk, PSG and Enrique were the ‘biggest admirers’ of Rashford after Erik ten Hag was sacked and ahead of Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford.

Luis Enrique won’t have a reunion with Marcus Rashford, but Michael Carrick must work out what is next for the Man Utd player
Rashford is expected to return to training early this month and the England international could feature against Leeds United at Croke Park on 12th August.
United manager Michael Carrick now faces the big decision over what to do with Rashford amid his former Red Devils teammate being linked with a move away.
Rashford fell out of the Man Utd starting XI under Ruben Amorim and has not played for the Red Devils since the 2-1 Europa League win over Viktoria Plzen in 2024.
The former Aston Villa and Barcelona forward could have his ‘second chance’ at Old Trafford under Carrick, who has shared a longstanding history with Rashford.
Enrique’s past admiration for Rashford proved the potential of the United talent and all eyes will be on whether Carrick keeps him or if Ineos manage to move him on.
