Two Juventus stars left out of squad for pre-season tour

Juventus have travelled for their pre-season tour ahead of the new campaign, with Luciano Spalletti naming a large squad for the trip.

Several players who could still leave the club during the transfer window, including Arthur Melo, Douglas Luiz and Arkadiusz Milik, have been included in the Bianconeri squad despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding their futures.

Injuries force players to stay behind

-------------------------------------

Not every first team player has travelled with the squad, however. According to [Tuttomercatoweb](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/juve-convocati-tournee-out-adzic-joao-mario-alajbegovic-kolo-muani-2259568), Juventus have left Jeff Ekhator and Khephren Thuram in Turin because both players are currently recovering from injuries.

Neither player is expected to be fit in time to feature in any of the matches during the tour, prompting the club to leave them behind to continue their rehabilitation. Juventus hope the decision will allow both players to recover without the demands of travelling and match preparation.

Ekhator only recently joined the Bianconeri, but he suffered an injury during the club’s first pre-season match of the summer. The setback has delayed his integration into the squad at an important stage of preparations for the new campaign.

Juventus await fitness updates

------------------------------

Thuram returned for pre-season before the rest of the squad, but the midfielder is still dealing with the [same injury that affected him during the closing weeks of last season](https://talkjuve.com/2026/07/16/thurams-injury-is-the-same-one-that-troubled-him-since-last-season/). Juventus had hoped he would recover before the start of the new campaign, but that has not happened.

As a result, Thuram will miss the pre-season tour while he continues his recovery programme. The club will monitor his progress closely before deciding when he can return to full training and competitive action.

When the Bianconeri return from the tour, they will hope both Ekhator and Thuram have made significant progress in their recoveries. Juventus remain optimistic that the pair will be available for selection as the new season gets underway and will be able to contribute once they regain full fitness.
