Man Utd ready to trigger £13.7m clause for Spanish wonderkid
Manchester United are reportedly prepared to trigger Jorge Salinas’ €16million (£13.7m) release clause if they cannot agree a deal for Lewis Hall.
Michael Carrick wants another left-back this summer and the Racing Santander defender has emerged as a leading alternative.
Lewis Hall remains United’s preferred option, but Newcastle United have little interest in losing the England international.
That has forced United to consider alternatives, with 19-year-old Salinas now firmly on their radar.
ReadManUtd previously reported that Hall remains Carrick’s leading left-back target, although Newcastle’s stance has always made a deal difficult.

According to GiveMeSport, citing Spanish outlet Sport, Manchester United are willing to activate Salinas’ £13.7million release clause if they cannot sign Hall.
United have reportedly “fully entered the fray” for the Spain Under-19 international after monitoring him during the European Championship.
Salinas can operate at left-back and centre-back. He also registered six assists in 33 league appearances as Racing secured promotion to La Liga last season.
Barcelona provide significant competition for his signature.
The teenager reportedly prefers a move to the Camp Nou, but Barcelona are reluctant to meet Racing’s €16m valuation. Their current proposal is said to be worth around €8m.
That could open the door for United if negotiations over Hall fail.
Luke Shaw is expected to begin the season as Carrick’s first-choice left-back, but he is entering the final year of his contract. Patrick Dorgu has also been used further forward.
Salinas would therefore provide immediate cover while potentially developing into United’s long-term solution.
For now, Hall remains the priority. However, United appear ready to act quickly if Newcastle make it clear that their top target is unavailable.
