Manchester United are not exploring a deal for Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly this summer, according to Standard Sport.
The 19-year-old was largely out of favour for the left-back position last term, but his fortunes changed in the final weeks.
Manager Mikel Arteta played him in midfield alongside Declan Rice after Martin Zubimendi experienced a big dip in form.
The Independent recently claimed that United are investigating a move for Lewis-Skelly, but this has been quickly dismissed.
Standard Sport report the Red Devils are not pursuing a deal for the 19-year-old.
The youngster had a brilliant breakthrough campaign with Arsenal in 2024/25. He made 43 appearances, with 42 of those coming from the left-back position.
Last season was completely different for Lewis-Skelly. The 19-year-old found himself behind Piero Hincapie and Riccardo Calafiori for the left-back role.
He still had a good end to the campaign. Lewis-Skelly got the chance to operate from his preferred midfield role to compensate for Zubimendi’s lean form.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently hot on the trail of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes. It looks likely that the Brazilian midfielder will join the club soon.
His arrival would once again mean that Lewis-Skelly could drop to the bench. Guimaraes will be expected to partner Declan Rice in central midfield next term.
Rice’s neutral hamstring issue could pave the way for some rotation, but Lewis-Skelly still faces competition from Zubimendi as well as Mikel Merino, who had a fine World Cup with Spain.
Despite this, Arsenal are unlikely to contemplate his departure to recoup funds. They could instead focus on offloading Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson.
Christian Norgaard is already on his way to Everton, and there is also the possibility that Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri could be sold in the next few weeks.
In our view, Lewis-Skelly’s late-season turnaround has changed the dynamic, and Arsenal will no doubt want to keep their graduate, barring him pushing for an exit.
If such a scenario arises, Arsenal could hold out for a significant fee, given his immense potential.
