Apparently, Russell Westbrook might find himself coming back to the Sacramento Kings.
As they are looking for a mentoring presence who will help the growth of their new franchise centerpiece Darius Acuff Jr., the Kings are reportedly mulling a reunion with Westbrook.
Per NBA insider Marc Stein, former NBA star Victor Oladipo is also being considered by Sacramento.
"League sources say that Sacramento covets a veteran point guard to mentor prized rookie Darius Acuff Jr. and is thus now weighing the prospect of bringing back Russell Westbrook … or bringing in Victor Oladipo to fill that role," Stein noted. "The Kings were among the teams to attend Oladipo's recent workout in Las Vegas during summer league."

Past reports indicated that the Sacramento Kings were looking to move on from Russell Westbrook after a season together. As such, this latest development should provide renewed optimism that the former NBA superstar may still find a playing opportunity this offseason.
Westbrook remains unsigned and is one of the key unrestricted free agents left in the market. He spent the past 2025-26 NBA season in Sacramento, averaging 15.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds across 76 appearances.
With his continued strong performances and reputation as one of the league's most respected teammates, Westbrook could play a key role in Darius Acuff Jr.'s development as the Kings' next franchise star.
Meanwhile, Victor Oladipo has been determined to claw his way back into the league. A two-time All-Star, an All-NBA member and the 2018 Most Improved Player, he went viral for announcing his openness to be signed by an NBA team.
Oladipo has not played in the NBA since 2023, as injuries have completely ruined his immense potential.
