The 31-year-old has endured several injury setbacks throughout his Manchester United career, and with the demands of domestic and European football increasing, the club are eager to reduce the reliance placed on him.
With United facing a demanding schedule that regularly includes multiple matches each week, adding greater depth at left-back has become a priority. Michael Carrick is understood to want genuine competition for Shaw rather than simply another squad player, ensuring the position remains well covered throughout the season while allowing the England international's workload to be managed more carefully.

There was seemingly some tension between Hall and Eddie Howe towards the end of last season after being dropped from the starting lineup, but with Howe being replaced by new boss Matthias Jaissle, there could be a fresh start on the cards for the 21-year-old ahead of a crucial season in the North East.
As reported by Simon Stone, Manchester United are interested in signing Hall, but are well aware that this would be a difficult transfer to complete. As a result, the current view is that Harry Amass will now leave Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen whether that is permanent or on loan.

A report by Standard Sport has stated that Hall is one of several options being weighed up by INEOS in their search for a long-term heir to Luke Shaw, but they echo the sentiment of Simon Stone, stating a deal for the highly-rated left-back would be difficult to negotiate at this time.
The outlet also reports that Manchester United are not pursuing a move for Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly, after being linked with a move last season, before the 19-year-old was afforded more playing time by Mikel Arteta.
While Manchester United continue their midfield rebuild, it is expected that once they sign their third midfielder, they will then move on to address full-back and winger depth, as the start of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign rapidly approaches.
