Michael Carrick handed four-player Man Utd boost before PSG clash
Manchester United have received a major pre-season boost after Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Matheus Cunha and Noussair Mazraoui returned to Carrington.
The Manchester United training group is beginning to take shape as Michael Carrick welcomes back players involved at the World Cup.
Fernandes and Dalot were part of the Portugal squad which reached the last 16 before losing to Spain.
Cunha also reached the knockout stages with Brazil, while Mazraoui went further as Morocco reached the World Cup quarter-finals.
The quartet have now returned following their post-tournament breaks and can begin preparing for the 2026/27 campaign.
The four players are expected to undergo individual testing and fitness assessments during their opening days back at Carrington.
Their return comes at an important point in United’s summer programme.
ReadManUtd previously confirmed that Carrick’s side face Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on Saturday, before further friendlies against Leeds United and AC Milan.
Fernandes, Dalot, Cunha and Mazraoui could all come into contention for the PSG fixture depending on their condition over the coming days.
United’s squad has been returning in stages because of the World Cup.
Senne Lammens and new signing Youri Tielemans have also returned earlier than initially expected, giving Carrick further senior options as the intensity of pre-season increases.
Further reinforcements are still to come.
Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford are among the players expected back later following deeper World Cup runs.
For Carrick, getting Fernandes and Cunha back is particularly significant as he begins working on his preferred attacking combinations ahead of the Premier League opener against Hull City.
United’s pre-season preparations have been fragmented by international commitments, but the return of four established first-team players represents another major step towards having the full squad together.
