Juventus have stepped up their search for a new goalkeeper, with Guglielmo Vicario now the priority target and both Lucas Chevalier and Vanja Milinković-Savić held in reserve should that move fall through.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the pursuit of Vicario has gathered pace after Parma’s Zion Suzuki edged closer to Paris Saint-Germain, ending Juventus’s interest in the Japanese.

The Tottenham goalkeeper, an Italy international eager to return home, is ready to join, and Juventus are pushing for a loan, though they need Spurs to sanction a temporary deal.

Encouragingly for the Bianconeri, Tottenham have already signalled that Vicario is not central to their plans, having brought in Martin Dubravka and renewed Antonín Kinsky.

Chevalier and Milinković-Savić Juventus’ back-up options

Should the Vicario deal stall, the Bianconeri have alternatives lined up.

Chief among them is Chevalier, who risks becoming surplus at PSG, where Luis Enrique favours Safonov and stands to add Suzuki, and Milinković-Savić, made available by Napoli as they prepare to hand the gloves to Alex Meret.

Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu is also on the shortlist. The priority for chief executive Giovanni Carnevali and sporting director Frederic Massara, however, remains Vicario.
