Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Juventus for August 5

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Juventus

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Juventus

This Chelsea predicted lineup will attempt to figure out what eleven and tactical setup we will see against Juventus. The first two pre-season friendlies saw Xabi Alonso rotate pretty heavily, with six players coming in to join up with the squad there are some additional bodies to work in to that complicated formula. In the Australian leg, the academy and second-string players started the initial match before the starters came in for Tottenham, with two matches in relatively short succession, we could see the same for this stretch in Hong Kong, starting with Juventus.

Chelsea Predicted Lineup & Team News vs Juventus

Travelling Squad

Six new faces joined up with the rest of the unit in Hong Kong, adding the unbanned Mykhailo Mudryk, Gaga Slonina, Mike Penders, Pedro Neto, and new signings Geovany Quenda and Danny Welbeck.

That leaves us with options in goal as Rob Sanchez, Ted Curd, Penders, Slonina and Teddy Sharman-Lowe. Filip Jorgensen travelled initially with the team but was absent against Western Sydney Wanderers and won’t rejoin the squad. Sanchez was missing against Tottenham due to injury and currently there’s no word on his status but two goalkeepers coming in could mean he won’t feature.

Defensive options in the middle are Josh Acheampong, Levi Colwill, Mamadou Sarr, Aaron Anselmino, Wes Fofana, Tayo Subuloye, and if needed Calvin Diakite or Jorrel Hato. New signing Marco Palestra is a right-back with Acheampong a possible replacement. At left-back, the team has Hato, Landon Emenalo, and Diakite as potential starters.

In midfield, for the pivot the names available are Reggie Walsh, Reggie Watson, Madhi Nicoll-Jazuli, Romeo Lavia, and Dario Essugo. All five have had some minutes, with Madhi in particular impressing.

The already plentiful attacking options have just gotten heftier with the additions of Welbeck, Mudryk. Neto, and Quenda. They add to an already stocked lineup including Jamie Gittens, Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, Omari Kellyman, Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Estevao, and Dastan Satpayev.

Chelsea Tactics & Lineups

Alonso has set up in a 4-2-3-1 using heavily rotated elevens so far. Sharman-Lowe started both matches due to the absences of Jorgensen and Sanchez. Tosin, Acheampong, Subuloye, and Emenalo were the first back line with Fofana, Palestra, Colwill, and Hato used against Tottenham.

Essugo and Lavia were the latest pivot with Essugo and Walsh before that. Watson, Satpayev, and Kavuma-McQueen got the starts behind Delap against Western Sydney Wanderers while it was Gittens, Palmer, Estevao, and Pedro against the Lilywhites.
