Manchester United player travels for medical – On verge of OT exit

Manchester United‘s Altay Bayındır is closing in on a rapid move to Celta Vigo this summer.

The Turkey international arrived at Old Trafford from Fenerbahçe in September 2023 for €5m, weeks after André Onana’s arrival.

Manchester United allowed Onana to return to Trabzonspor on loan in July and are on the verge of sanctioning a loan move for Bayındır.

At the weekend, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that he will soon travel to join the La Liga side on loan. The latter aim to have him for their pre-season trip to Italy. They will face Sassuolo on Wednesday and Napoli this weekend.

Manchester United player’s loan move close

Celta Vigo have completed the signing of Abdoulaye Faye on loan from Bayer Leverkusen on Monday.

Tuesday’s edition of AS covers this, and towards the end, they report the latest on Altay Bayındır.

The newspaper claims the 28-year-old will be the La Liga side’s next signing, and will arrive on loan from the Red Devils.

In fact, the stopper is already in Vigo to carry out medical tests. This and the official announcement are now pending. AS don’t mention the loan fee or percentage of salary that Celta Vigo will cover.

Deal not ideal for Red Devils

Altay Bayındır’s contract expires at Old Trafford in 2027. AS claims the loan move will allow Celta Vigo to sign him for free next summer.

They haven’t taken into account that Manchester United have an option for another year. It’s unclear whether the English club plan to activate it.

Either way, what seems certain is that the goalkeeper has no future with the Red Devils.

Bayındır will compete with Ionut Radu for a place in Celta Vigo’s starting XI next season.

He kept three clean sheets and conceded 31 goals from 17 matches for Manchester United, and six were from last season.

Senne Lammens will be the first choice for Michael Carrick, with new signing Karl Darlow as his deputy. Tom Heaton will be further down the pecking order.
