Chido Obi is being linked with a loan to Bundesliga side Koln, who play a very unique style of football.
Manchester United are ready to send Chido Obi on loan for the 2026/27 season to give him experience in senior football.
Michael Carrick already has enough depth up front through Benjamin Sesko, Joshua Zirkzee, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
The Bundesliga is perfect for Obi to gain experience and confidence in a free-flowing league, and FC Koln are in discussions over a move, according to GiveMeSport.

FC Koln’s style of play and where Chido Obi fits
FC Koln are managed by Rene Wagner, who like Michael Carrick, was appointed permanently at the end of last season after impressing as an interim.
Wagner, a 38-year-old German coach, kept Koln up in the Bundesliga and is now looking to make his stamp in 2026/27.
His style of play is unique, but it could suit Chido Obi. As per TacticalFootballAnalysis, Wagner has “dismantled the concept of static positions in the final third” and reintroduced the idea of a strike partnership.
At the end of last season, Koln played a 3-3-2-2 system under Wagner, prioritising vertical progression with two strikers spearheading the formation.
If Obi joins Koln, he can expect to play in a front two under Wagner and see plenty of the ball. The high defensive lines in the Bundesliga should give him space to attack in behind.

FC Koln have been free-scoring under Rene Wagner
The good news for Obi is that Koln have been scoring a lot of goals under Wagner.
In pre-season, Koln are undefeated in their first four friendly matches and have scored a staggering 23 goals in those games.

Even towards the end of last season, Koln scored against Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen in two of their final matches of the season.
If United want to get Obi among the goals and building his confidence, Koln is a great destination.
