Chido Obi did not feature for Manchester United's senior side last season, which was seen as a blow by some, but it appeared to be the club's strategy.
Having made eight appearances under Rúben Amorim in 2024/25, United took the decision to move Obi back to youth football – allowing him to develop the technical side of his game further.
The young Dane netted 13 goals in 13 starts for the Under-21s side, as well as impressing in the U18s' FA Youth Cup final run.
While he featured on the bench against Wrexham, Obi made his first appearance under Michael Carrick in the 5-0 win against Rosenborg.
He was not included to face Atletico Madrid and likely won't be against Paris Saint-Germain, Leeds United or AC Milan in the final three games.
Man Utd open to Obi loan
After his season back in youth football, it seems Manchester United have decided it is time for Obi to play regular minutes in senior football.
Tipsbladet have reported that United are "open" to loaning Chido Obi, with "massive" interest from sides in England and Europe.
Simon Jones has also said that United are willing to let him leave on loan, but under the condition that he is playing regular football.

Both reports say "open" or "willing", suggesting that United are not set on Obi leaving the club and he could stay to play for the U21s or even the first team.
United remain on the hunt for a new centre-forward this summer, although it is unlikely to be Ollie Watkins.

The right loan for Obi
Deciding where a young player should move on loan is no easy task, and it becomes even more difficult when that youngster has already played first-team football.
When Obi played for United's senior side, his physicality did not seem to be too much of an issue. He stands at well over six feet tall and has a frame to match, but his technical game was not that of a United player.
Therefore, rather than loaning him to an EFL side, where he will be relying on his physical game against bigger opposition, he should go on loan to Europe – maybe Spain or Italy.
Playing Obi in a slower, less physical league will be a good assessment of his on-the-ball abilities, allowing him to have more than one asset to his game.
