Tyrese Maxey could position himself for one of the largest contracts in NBA history over the next two seasons.
According to ESPN salary-cap expert Bobby Marks, the Philadelphia 76ers star could eventually become eligible for a five-year extension worth approximately $389 million.
Maxey earned All-NBA honors in 2026 but could not sign a supermax extension this offseason because he was one year short of the required seven seasons of NBA service.
Another All-NBA selection could unlock supermax deal
Maxey would become eligible for a four-year, $301 million extension during the 2027 offseason if he earns All-NBA honors, wins MVP, or is named Defensive Player of the Year during the 2026-27 campaign.
The guard could then become eligible for an even larger five-year, $389 million extension in 2028.
Maxey would automatically qualify for that five-year deal by earning All-NBA recognition in two of three seasons.
That means another All-NBA selection this coming season could put him on track for a contract approaching $400 million.

Maxey's development has turned him into one of the central pieces of Philadelphia's long-term future.
His 2026 All-NBA selection placed him among the league's top performers, although the timing of the honor prevented him from immediately becoming eligible for the designated veteran extension.
The 76ers will now closely monitor whether Maxey reaches the required individual benchmarks again during the upcoming season.
No players were eligible to sign a supermax extension during the 2026 offseason, marking the first time that had happened under the current collective bargaining agreement.
Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had each signed supermax contracts during the previous three offseasons.
Maxey could become one of the next players to join that group, with his 2026-27 performance potentially determining whether Philadelphia can offer him a deal worth more than $300 million next summer and nearly $400 million one year later.
