Recently, Kevin Durant made headlines when he compared LeBron James joining the Philadelphia 76ers to himself joining the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 offseason. Fans were quick to point out the many differences between the two situations, namely that Durant was joining a 73-win team that had just beaten him in the playoffs, while James is joining a team that hasn't won a ring in over four decades.
Also weighing in on the discourse is another member of that Warriors team, Draymond Green, who recently took to his podcast to discuss his thoughts.
“KD said the Sixers are better on paper than the Warriors were in 2016-17. I don't know that I can agree with that… but that's KD's opinion,” said Green, per The Draymond Green Show on X, formerly Twitter.

When Durant joined the Warriors, he was at the peak of his powers and joining three other All-Stars in the primes of their careers. Meanwhile, James is at least a decade removed from his apex, and is joining a 76ers team whose franchise cornerstone, Joel Embiid, has played in fewer than 100 games over the last three seasons combined.
While on paper, the 76ers might be the most talented team in the NBA currently, fans were quick to discern that Durant was simply using the example as a way to make his infamous 2016 decision seem more justifiable, as it still clearly bothers him over a decade later.
Meanwhile, James will look to add a fifth championship ring to his collection this year with the 76ers.
