Jonathan David is a player that Juventus would love to offload in this transfer window because the Canadian failed to impress in his first season at the club.
A year ago, he was one of the most sought-after players in Europe after he ran down his contract at Lille, where he had been prolific. Juventus won the race for his signature, and most people believed that the Bianconeri had signed one of the top strikers in the world.
David Struggles After Juventus Move
He was expected to make it easy for Juventus to forget about Dusan Vlahovic, but that was far from the reality when the season started. The Canadian struggled to establish himself as the leading option in attack and failed to deliver the performances many had expected from him.
Dusan Vlahovic won back his place on the team, and until this moment, Luciano Spalletti wishes to add the Serbian to his squad again. That situation has made David’s future at the Allianz Stadium uncertain, with Juventus now considering options regarding his next move.
The club would prefer to find a solution for the striker during this transfer window, especially with competition for places increasing within the squad. David, however, remains determined to stay and prove that he can perform at a high level for the Bianconeri.
Marseille Show Interest in Canadian Forward
Juventus want David to leave, and according to TuttoJuve, Olympique Marseille is keen to add him to their squad this summer. Their manager believes he can revive the Canadian and help him return to the form that made him one of the most wanted players in Europe before his move to Italy.
Despite the interest from Marseille, David insists he is not leaving the Allianz Stadium because he wants to stay and prove that he can do well on the Bianconeri team. He believes he can still have an important role if he manages to improve his performances.
Juventus are frustrated in their efforts to sell him, but they have signed Randal Kolo Muani and David can expect to play just a few games if he stays. The forward now faces a difficult challenge to earn regular opportunities and show why Juventus invested in bringing him to the club.
