Since the arrival of midfield pair Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, Manchester United's activity in this summer's transfer window has seemed to have slowed quite dramatically, with little to no word of what may lie ahead for the Red Devils.
However, in recent days, talks of a potential move for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall have begun to heat up, with United being linked to the Englishman by a multitude of sources.
Roundtable have previously exclusively reported that Manchester United are planning talks with Newcastle United for Lewis Hall.
Left-back is most certainly an area in which United have needed strengthening in recent times, with Michael Carrick's only real option at the minute being Luke Shaw, who, although last season was able to provide his most consistent season in a red shirt, cannot be guaranteed to be fit for another full season given the Englishman's injury history, plus the additional European fixtures this coming season.
With it being reported that Hall could be intrigued by the move to Manchester, the only major stumbling block United will now have to tackle is Newcastle, who, in contrast, are not so keen on the move.
Newcastle Dig Their Heels In
According to reports from TeamTalk, the Magpies are now said to be refusing to even discuss a potential valuation for Hall, following previous reports of a fee within the region of £60 million being discussed.
It's understood that Newcastle view Hall as one of the cornerstones of their newly refreshed project under Matthias Jaissle, following the recent departure of Eddie Howe, and will not wish for any further first-team departures after already suffering a number of major blows this summer, with the likes of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali, and now potentially Bruno Guimaraes already departing.
However, privately, it is still believed that a fee in excess of £62 million for the Magpies to budge, whilst Newcastle still insists no formal talks have taken place with Manchester United.
Any potential approach for the young defender is said to be unwelcome, with Newcastle determined to hold on to Hall and not strengthen another rival again.

How Likely Is The Move?
With left back being one of the most crucial areas of the squad that needs strengthening, it is very much plausible to think that Manchester United will look to make a move for Hall sooner rather than later.
However, the likelihood of whether an agreement will be reached between both clubs is yet to be seen, with Newcastle reportedly set to command a significant sum for Hall's signature whilst United will not want to be drawn into a long transfer saga or paying an overly inflated fee – something the club has been far too guilty of doing in the past and is now seemingly trying to correct.
With transfer funds still needed to be allocated across the squad, and Michael Carrick potentially looking for a third midfield option to add to his ranks this window, as well as strengthening up top, United may not be able to commit the funds required for the Newcastle defender's signature.
Alternative options have also been said to have been discussed by the club if this were to be the case, with Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly being another name strongly mentioned as the Reds continue in their search for strengthening the position.
