Manchester United will be hunting silverware in 2026/27 and breaking off-pitch records at the same time.
An exciting season is on the horizon for Manchester United. With Michael Carrick at the helm, the Red Devils are back in the Champions League for the first time since the 2023/24 campaign.
With less than three weeks to go until the new season begins, United are ranked as the sixth-best team in the world according to Opta.
That is credit to United’s strong end to the last campaign, and it has set the club up for what will inevitably be a very lucrative season if nothing else.

Manchester United are about to make a lot of money
Despite playing just 40 matches and having no European football in the calendar, United projected revenue of £665m for the 2025/26 season.
That is just £2 million down on the club-high £667m revenue recorded in the 2024/25 season, when the Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League under Ruben Amorim.
With those figures in mind, let’s now look forward to the 2026/27 campaign, where United will play a minimum of 48 matches across all competitions, including the new Champions League format for the first time.
Prediction: Manchester United will make £750m+ in revenue in 2026/27
A jump of nearly £100m in revenue seems steep, but it is simple to break down.
A return to the Champions League brings in over £100m through prize money, sponsorship and improved matchday revenue
United already lead Premier League matchday income at £136m, this will grow with more matches and European games at Old Trafford
Sponsorship revenue is growing, including the new £20m Betway sponsorship for training kits, the biggest of its kind in world football.
As part of Project 90, Ineos want to make £800m in revenue by 2028, and this season will take a huge step towards that target.
Manchester United will re-overtake Liverpool
In the latest 2024/25 accounts, Liverpool topped the Premier League by making £703m in revenue, as per ValuBall.
But that was in a season where Liverpool were crowned champions and reached the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Liverpool are now going through a transition with new manager Andoni Iraola, and the door has opened for the Red Devils to get back in front of their arch-rivals financially.

Last season, United finished above Liverpool by 11 points and achieved a league double over them. Carrick will hope to be looking down on the Merseysiders again in 2026/27.
If that is the case, expect United to not only reclaim their footballing crown on the pitch, but also off of it.
