The [Golden State Warriors](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/golden-state-warriors) don't have a slew of young talent, and unfortunately, one of their young players with some upside is dealing with a gruesome knee injury. Moses Moody went down with a tough injury last season, something the Warriors are hopeful will eventually be figured out.
Moody is expected to make a full recovery and eventually return to the court, though it remains uncertain when that will happen.
Not trading Moody over the past few years, however, has raised questions about what the Warriors are doing.
Some have wondered what the plan is for Moody, especially after this injury. While it feels like Golden State would move on from anybody at this point not named Stephen Curry if they believe they can get an impact player, there might be a very good reason why Moody is still on the roster, according to the latest report.
“His (Moody’s) character earned him a significant space in the Warriors’ ecosystem,” Marcus Thompson [wrote](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7484213/2026/08/02/steph-curry-moses-moody-golden-state-warriors-arkansas-bond/) of Moody.
“It’s part of the reason he remains while others have departed. And if his recovery is tied to his constitution, it’s why Curry and the Warriors can put their hope in his returning to his former level. He’s the type they bet on.”
If the Warriors were to trade Moody right now, it's likely that he wouldn't be involved in some big package. To move on from a young guy who has a load of potential, even with this injury, and not get the return that the Warriors are hoping for would be pretty questionable.
Even beyond the Curry situation, I wouldn't really agree with trading him.
