The New York Knicks will be without a key member of their front office next season and beyond. Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas made an Instagram post earlier this week announcing that he will be leaving the team before next season.
The New York Post’s Stefan Bondy noted that Rosas left the team on good terms. However, Rosas wanted to grow as an executive in the league, which means he’d have to explore other opportunities.

Rosas was a key member of the Knicks’ front office, working with President Leon Rose to help build the team into a championship group. The team made history this year by finally ending their 53-year title drought by going on one of the most dominant runs in playoff history.
Rosas isn’t the only member of the Knicks brass to have pursued a bigger opportunity. Former player Patrick Ewing, who was a team ambassador this past season, left to take an assistant coaching job with the Washington Wizards.
Winning a championship boosts executives’ opportunities to land bigger jobs, and Rosas is clearly taking that route. Replacing these executives won’t be an easy task for New York, as they want to remain on the same page of continuing to build a championship caliber squad.

As far as their roster is concerned, the only significant departure from the Knicks was center Mitchell Robinson, who left to join the Boston Celtics. Otherwise, the rest of the main core is returning for next season, in addition to newcomer Andre Drummond.
The Knicks will be up for the task next season looking to repeat as champions, looking to become the first repeat champion since the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018.
