Man Utd predicted XI vs PSG as Carrick makes midfield change
Manchester United face Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday in their toughest pre-season test so far, with Michael Carrick finally beginning to welcome more senior players back.
The Man Utd predicted XI vs PSG could therefore look considerably stronger than the side which beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 last weekend. Youri Tielemans and Senne Lammens have returned to training, while Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui are also due back with the squad.
United’s official schedule confirms PSG are next up in Gothenburg before Carrick’s side travel to Ireland and Poland later this month.
🚨 – BREAKING!!
It is now NOT certain that Man Utd will sign another midfielder.
Mason Mount has started all three pre-season fixtures in a deeper ROLE.
This means United have four to rotate in those two spots, with Kobbie Mainoo completing the quartet. [@TheAthleticFC] pic.twitter.com/jzNOaqJ6VR

Man Utd predicted XI vs PSG could include Tielemans
Lammens could receive his first minutes of pre-season in goal after returning to Carrington following Belgium’s World Cup campaign.
Dalot is another contender to immediately return at right-back, although his limited preparation could convince Carrick to remain patient. Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire should continue centrally, with Luke Shaw completing the defence.
The biggest decision comes in midfield.
Andrey Santos has featured regularly throughout pre-season, but Tielemans could now partner him after returning to training earlier this week.
Mason Mount has started all three friendlies in a deeper position and impressed Carrick enough to influence United’s transfer thinking. ReadManUtd reported on Tuesday that Mount’s performances have reduced the urgency to sign another midfielder
However, PSG represents an ideal opportunity to begin building the Santos-Tielemans partnership that could eventually become important once competitive football begins.
Dorgu could continue in advanced Man Utd role
Patrick Dorgu should remain on the left side of United’s attack.
ReadManUtd revealed on Wednesday that Carrick prefers using Dorgu further forward, rather than considering him primarily as his starting left-back.
That makes another start against PSG particularly useful.
Amad can operate from the right, while Mount could move back into the No.10 position after spending much of pre-season alongside Santos.
Bryan Mbeumo deserves another opportunity through the middle after being named United’s player of the match against Atletico. Manchester United’s official match centre confirms the 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid
Fernandes and Cunha are likely to be involved at some stage if their fitness allows, although immediately starting players returning from extended World Cup breaks would provide little benefit.
Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford are not expected back with the group until next week.
PSG should therefore provide Carrick with his first opportunity to blend several summer returnees with the players who have already built match fitness.
Predicted Manchester United XI vs PSG
Lammens; Dalot, Yoro, Maguire, Shaw; Santos, Tielemans; Amad, Mount, Dorgu; Mbeumo.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
