Victor Wembanyama has taken this entire offseason seriously, meeting an NBA legend again for an important workout to improve his game.
Beyond making multiple stops and developments in France and San Antonio, the San Antonio Spurs superstar also met and trained with Hakeem Olajuwon, per Jared Weiss of The Athletic.
"Wembanyama went off to France after the NBA Finals, signing his contract extension there as he began his offseason training. He then returned to Texas and participated in workouts at Fox’s home gym, with Harris and Barnes included," Weiss wrote.
"Wembanyama also spent more time working with Hakeem Olajuwon, who helped him build out his post game last summer."
Victor Wembanyama trains again with Hakeem Olajuwon in offseason
After leading the San Antonio Spurs' historic trip back to the NBA Finals, Victor Wembanyama earned himself a busy 2026 NBA offseason.
From landing a groundbreaking max contract extension with the franchise and becoming the cover athlete of the upcoming NBA 2K27 game, Wembanyama also spent significant time honing his play.
As such, it has been revealed that he brought most of his Spurs teammates to France for a summer workout together.
Training with Hakeem Olajuwon again should give Wembanyama an added edge and composure to his game. From being mentored by one of the greatest players of all time last summer, the French superstar finally took off and earned himself a career year in 2025-26, averaging 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 blocks and 3.1 assists per game to become an NBA MVP candidate and the first-ever unanimous Defensive Player of the Year winner.
By earning Olajuwon's guidance yet again, possibilities are limitless for Wembanyama to reach new heights in the Spurs' highly anticipated 2026-27 season.
