Cole Anthony is taking his talents Down Under. The former NBA guard officially signed a one-year deal with Melbourne United for the upcoming Hungry Jack’s NBL27 season. After six years in the association, the 26-year-old looks ready to make some serious noise in Australia.
The Orlando Magic originally drafted Anthony with the 15th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft following a standout freshman year at North Carolina. He spent five seasons lighting up the scoreboard in Orlando before a brief stint with the Milwaukee Bucks last season.
Across 367 career games, which include 12 playoff appearances, he put up solid numbers, averaging 12.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per contest. Fans will certainly remember his impressive career-high 37-point explosion against the Philadelphia 76ers during his Magic tenure.
Now, Anthony gets to reunite with a familiar face. Former Magic teammate Joe Ingles also joined Melbourne United recently, and he believes the dynamic guard will make an instant impact on the league.
“Cole is an elite scorer, elite competitor,” Ingles told reporters. “He's going to command so much attention from defenses, and I think United fans are going to love him.”
