Stephen Curry is unlikely to ask for a trade from the Warriors, and the Celtics do not appear to have a realistic path toward landing the superstar guard.
Despite recent speculations and rumblings around the Golden State Warriors' competitive direction, it is still unlikely that Stephen Curry will demand a trade to leave the franchise.
The superstar guard is looking to maintain his loyalty in the Bay Area and end his career as a Warrior, per San Francisco Standard reporter Danny Emerman.
"It is an interesting time in the franchise's trajectory, but I think I'm here to pour a little cold water on some of this Steph Curry stuff. ... Steph Curry has been resolute and consistent throughout his entire career that he wants to spend his entire career with the Warriors. He wants to be like a Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan type where he spends his whole career with one franchise," Emerman said on Celtics Daily.
"That's very important to him. Anything you see to the contrary is, at this point, as far as I understand, smoke and mirrors."

In what has been a discouraging offseason for Golden State following a brutal 2025-26 season, in which the Warriors brass failed to land even just a single new player to their group, murmurs have suddenly intensified around Stephen Curry and the franchise.
There was chatter that if the Warriors' mediocrity extends and ultimately fails to contend, Curry will be a player to watch who could demand an exit from Golden State.
In the end, according to Emerman, any potential Warriors deals around Curry should be dismissed, as both sides are inclined to sign a lucrative contract extension.
The Boston Celtics, who previously emerged as a shocking rumored suitor for Curry, also do not have a realistic shot at possibly landing the two-time MVP, as argued by the Warriors reporter.
"I don't want to put a wet blanket on it, but it's not going to happen," Emerman noted. "Steph isn't going to request a trade. He's not going to pound the table and demand out, at least not anytime soon. He's extension eligible at the end of the month.
"I'm not sure if he's going to work to get one immediately or push it into the season and see where things are at, but he's eligible for a one- or two-year extension, and I think there's a lot of mutual interest to get one done."
