Golden State Warriors were heavily linked with Jaylen Brown, but in the end he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason.
Another question arises, were the Warriors actually close to land former Boston Celtics' superstar?
Danny Emerman, Warriors beat writer for The San Francisco Standard doesn't think so.
"Conversations between the Warriors and the Celtics never got really serious. I think it was kind of like a preliminary stage situation," Emerman started for Celtics on CLNS.
"I think the Warriors could have matched or exceeded Philadelphia's offer fairly easily, and Jaylen Brown is the exact type of player that they need."
Emerman noted that Brown's signing could have led to a domino effect move which would help sign LeBron James in free agency.
"They need someone who can carry them through the regular season to take the load off of Steph Curry, and that's even independent of if adding Jaylen Brown might have put them over the top for LeBron James," he concluded.
