Diogo Dalot is set to embark on his ninth campaign as a Manchester United player after returning to pre-season this week.
The latest batch of Manchester United players to return for pre-season training includes Diogo Dalot, who is among the longest-serving members of Michael Carrick’s squad.
Dalot is Carrick’s primary right-back option, so it will be a huge boost to have him back available for selection along with Noussair Mazraoui.
There are many milestones in place for Dalot to chase in his ninth season at Old Trafford. It should make him eager to kick on as a valued member of the squad.

First piece of major silverware
Dalot has won two trophies during his time at United. Both trophies came during Erik ten Hag’s reign, as the Dutchman led the team to the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup a year later.
That means Dalot is looking for his first major trophy as a United player, which would involve winning the Premier League and Champions League.
It would be a huge task for United to pull that off this season, but it should always be the main objective for not only Dalot but the football club.
30 goal contributions and counting
Across all competitions, Dalot has registered 30 goal contributions for United.
The Portugal international has scored 10 goals since joining the Reds as an unproven young right-back in 2018.
This season, it would be great to see him add to his tally of assists (20) now that he is a constant in the side.
In the Premier League, Dalot has made 171 appearances for United, meaning he is 29 away from the 200 milestone.
Reaching 200 Premier League appearances this season is manageable so long as Dalot can stay fit.
It’s worth noting that one of Dalot’s biggest strengths is his availability. The 27-year-old is rarely injured or suspended.

Approaching 10-year testimonial territory
Dalot is now just one full campaign away from completing a decade of service at Old Trafford, which means he is on the brink of qualifying for an official club testimonial match.
The only current player who qualifies for a testimonial match on the back of a decade of service is Luke Shaw.
This is something Dalot will take great pride in when it is achieved.
