First Day of School: Many Bexar County districts open Aug. 10; others later (news4sanantonio.com) β Families across San Antonio and nearby communities can start planning now, as many districts including East Central, Northside, South San, and others return to class as early as August 10. San Antonio ISD, Judson, Harlandale, and several more begin August 12, while others like Alamo Heights, New Braunfels, and Kerrville start later in the month. Parents should confirm campus-specific details with their districts.

San Antonio ISD says it will continue providing free breakfast, lunch to all students (sacurrent.com) β Families in San Antonio ISD can count on free breakfast and lunch for every student this school year, thanks to the district's decision to stay in a key federal program. The move contrasts with NEISD and other nearby districts opting out, which will leave some San Antonio-area families paying for meals or applying for reduced-price options.

Abbott announces plan to break up energy sector in San Antonio, Austin (ksat.com) β San Antonio residents could see major changes to their CPS Energy service if Gov. Greg Abbott's proposal to break up city-owned energy monopolies moves forward.
