Man Utd transfer update is brilliant news for Newcastle United
It would be safe to say that there have not been many positives for Newcastle United fans in recent days. Eddie Howe left the club in the middle of pre-season. Bruno Guimaraes is set to join Arsenal as well. The arrival of Matthias Jaissle is the true beginning of a new era, not just a mere change in manager.
One thing needs to be clear though, Newcastle United simply cannot afford to lose any more quality than they already have. Other than Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have also left. That is about £250 million worth of talent, proven quality and experience.
In return, the club have focused on bringing in youngsters with high potential. The same strategy completely failed at Chelsea. So, one can only wonder why the Magpies have decided to adopt a version of it.
Perhaps they think they can do it better. Or maybe the aim is no longer on winning. Instead, they might be hoping to build a sustainable structure like Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth. But do the Magpies have the scouting depart at the level of those two?
Manchester United news hands rare positive to Newcastle
Amid all this, there is some positive news for Newcastle United. And it involves Man Utd as well, who have been linked with linked with Lewis Hall on a constant basis for months now.
Fortunately for Newcastle United, it looks like that interest might not be headed anywhere. According to talkSPORT, Alex Crook said about the situation:
“United’s interest remains.
“We’re told they’re willing to pay up to £60million to prise Hall away from the North East.
“But having already made £70million for Gordon, £100million for Tonali and now £75million for Guimaraes, there’s no real financial pressure on Newcastle.
“And you wonder if the hierarchy there might see this Lewis Hall situation as a chance to make a statement – ‘The shop window is closed, we’re not selling any more of our star players’.”
That is exactly what Newcastle United should do. If they want to focus on youth and potential, there are not too many players better than Hall in world football right now.
At the same time, it looks like Manchester United have turned their attention towards Antonee Robinson. Crook continued:
“Keep an eye on Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, the USA international.
“Their experienced Premier League campaigner would probably come a lot cheaper than Lewis Hall. He’s someone I’m told is on Manchester United’s radar as well.”
Why Newcastle United cannot let Lewis Hall go
Hall can be one of the new faces of this project moving forward. So, letting him join Man Utd should not even be considered unless the player himself is insistent on it.
Hall is an elite talent. Many believe that he can be the best left-back in the Premier League. That is simply not the player you let go at 21 years of age. His transfer valuation can skyrocket over the next couple of years.
Also, if you want to part ways with someone like Hall, it should be in a situation when there are multiple clubs looking to sign him. That can help raise the transfer fee up.
Right now, this seems like a one-way race. Chelsea appear to be closing in on a deal for Pep Chavarria. That leaves Manchester United as the only contender.
