Manchester United have reportedly been ‘offered’ the chance to take Djed Spence off Tottenham Hotspur’s hands this summer.

That’s according to Ben Jacobs (via The United Stand), who adds that Liverpool have also been approached to see whether they’d be interested in signing the full-back.

Manchester United reportedly offered Djed Spence

Although Spence enjoyed an eye-catching World Cup campaign with England, Spurs are seemingly still considering parting ways with him.

Now is undoubtedly the time his value is highest, and they are seeking funds to continue a crucial rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi following back-to-back 17th-placed finishes.

The 25-year-old has also opened the door to a Spurs exit in order to play a more prominent role elsewhere.

Currently, he ranks behind World Cup winner Pedro Porro in the pecking order, which is unlikely to change following the Spaniard’s scintillating showings on his way to becoming a world champion.

Spence isn’t a necessity at Old Trafford this transfer window

Yet, the Red Devils are yet to show any indication they’d be interested in negotiating a deal.

Michael Carrick already has Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui as his options on the right-hand side of defence, and he would presumably prefer a natural left-back to rotate with Luke Shaw rather than shoehorning Spence into the position.

Spurs have reportedly set a price tag in the region of £35 million for the defender, so you can’t imagine INEOS would be willing to shell out such a fee for an area of the squad that isn’t by any means a priority.

19 – Djed Spence made 19 tackles at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the most by an England defender in a single World Cup since Ashley Cole in 2002 (25).

So far, only two first-team midfielders – Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans – have been brought in, which isn’t filling the United faithful with the most optimism just a fortnight before the new season gets underway.
