Manchester United’s latest new signing this season is now confirmed – Cristian Orozco from Fortaleza.

The signing of Cristian Orozco was completed in October last year, but under Brexit rules, Man Utd had to wait until the player turned 18 before welcoming him to Old Trafford.

In the meantime, Orozco captained his national team’s age group, as well as establishing himself in the senior team at Fortaleza despite his young age.

He arrived at Carrington after turning 18 on July 13, but the deal has only now been formally announced.

Cristian Orozco arrives at Man Utd

Manchester United have signed two first team midfielders this window, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

Without a third arriving just yet, Orozco’s arrival is certainly worth noting much more than usual.

The official announcement has now arrived, with United confirming that Orozco has joined the squad.

It is expected that the club will make a decision on his future after seeing him in pre-season, especially as they are light on midfielders anyway.

He has featured for the under-21s already, playing against Altrincham last weekend.

What to expect from Orozco

In an ideal world, Orozco has the perfect skill set to be a huge asset for Carrick, due to his combination of physicality, leadership, and technical ability.

There are only two questions he needs to answer: how ready is he to cope with the pressure of playing for Man Utd, and how ready is he to contribute in the Premier League?

The jump from Colombia to English football is huge for the best of talents, and even someone like Moises Caicedo had to bide his time before being unleashed.

The scrutiny at Old Trafford will be even higher, but he’s got a puncher’s chance getting fast-tracked if he shows this pre-season enough.
