Sesko to Tottenham: Tottenham Hotspur have made an unexpected move for Manchester United striker Benjamin Šeško, yet they have quickly discovered how difficult any deal would be. According to TEAMtalk, Spurs recently asked about the Slovenian international’s availability, but United have no interest in selling one of their key attacking players this summer.
Interest in the 23-year-old stretches beyond north London. Barcelona and Bayern Munich continue to monitor his situation, although Manchester United have remained firm throughout. Club officials see Šeško as a major part of Michael Carrick’s long-term plans rather than someone they are willing to cash in on after only one season.
His first year at Old Trafford started unevenly after a £74 million move. Everything changed once Carrick replaced Rúben Amorim. Confidence returned. Goals followed. Šeško finished the campaign with 12 goals and one assist in 32 appearances across all competitions, including 11 Premier League goals in 30 matches, while earning Manchester United’s Player of the Month award for February.
Reports suggest an offer around £100 million could at least prompt internal discussions. Even then, Tottenham would face a huge financial commitment after spending heavily on Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, with Nicolo Tresoldi and Fisnik Asllani listed as cheaper alternatives.

Selling Šeško now would create a problem that Manchester United don’t need. Carrick has finally found the right role for him, using his pace, height and movement to stretch defences while leading the press from the front. That system brought the best out of a player who looked short of confidence during the opening months.
Very few strikers combine those qualities at elite level. Finding another centre-forward with the same profile in August would cost a fortune, assuming one is even available. After investing €76.5 million only last year, allowing him to leave before he reaches his peak would be difficult to justify from either a football or financial standpoint.
Why Sesko to Tottenham should stay off the table
Tottenham’s interest is understandable because proven Premier League strikers are difficult to find. Manchester United, though, gain nothing from strengthening a direct rival while weakening their own attack.
Money should not decide this case. Šeško wants to stay, Carrick trusts him, and his value continues to rise after a breakthrough finish to last season. Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Spurs all recognise his potential. Manchester United should simply close the door and move on.
