The Denver Nuggets are still in the process of determining their future and situation with Peyton Watson.
With Watson still stuck in this year's offseason market as a restricted free agent, the Nuggets remain in active possible sign-and-trade talks with a handful of teams. As such, there is also a possibility that the franchise might retain the young wing for another year.
"The biggest question for the Nuggets right now surrounds restricted free agent Peyton Watson. This is still an outstanding issue that the Nuggets have right now, and I'm told they are in active trade talks with multiple teams on a Peyton Watson sign-and-trade. That includes Cleveland, Milwaukee, and the Clippers," NBA insider Shams Charania said on ESPN's NBA Today.
"There are combinations of player packages and pick packages as well, so either they're going to trade him, or you could potentially have him back on a one-year $6.5 million qualifying offer."
Peyton Watson, Nuggets still determining free agency future
Peyton Watson remains one of the key free agents left in the 2026 offseason.
He enjoyed a breakout 2025-26 season, averaging a career-high 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Unfortunately, injuries limited him to just 54 games.
As a talented forward with immense two-way potential, there were expectations that Watson would generate tons of interest. Yet right now, he has yet to find his next NBA team or even secure a brand-new contract with the Nuggets.
As Denver holds the full rights to Watson, they will have the final call to choose their desired offseason outcome with the 23-year-old.
