Klay Thompson linked to Lakers amid uncertain Mavs future
Klay Thompson has drawn plenty of talk across the league out of his interesting situation with the Dallas Mavericks.
Past reports indicated that Thompson is in the mix among several Mavs veterans available for trade. While Dallas explored the market, no deal has become realistic yet around the future Hall of Famer.
The likes of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat have been linked to Thompson and would reportedly secure him once he reaches a contract buyout with the Mavericks. Yet so far, the team has not shown any interest in executing a breakup.
Thompson will hit contract year next 2026-27 season and is set to earn $17.5 million for the final year of his current deal with the Mavs. He averaged 11.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 21.7 minutes last season, shooting 38.3% of his three-point attempts across 69 games.
With Thompson open to coming home to LA, it still remains to be seen how his situation in Dallas will unfold.
