Newcastle United have followed Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha for a while and are now preparing to make advances.
Two months ago, we relayed news of both the Premier League side and Manchester United having interest in the midfielder.
On July 7th, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that Newcastle United and the Red Devils are ‘leading the charge’.
Newcastle United preparing offer
Sky Deutschland picks up on that and covers the latest on the Tyneside club’s pursuit of the Germany international.
Matthias Jaissle has replaced Eddie Howe at St James’ Park, and the latter was a big fan of the player.
Sky doesn’t have clarity on the new manager’s stance, but the Magpies are keen on securing the player’s services this summer.
Newcastle United have already carried out initial discussions with Felix Nmecha’s agent and now ‘intend to submit’ an offer. There’s no mention of the fee they intend to offer.
Premier League goal for player
The BVB man has a contract until 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €55m. The report claims his goal is to move to the Premier League in the future and Newcastle United can fulfil that aim.
BVB are reluctant to let him leave, however, their sporting director, Ole Book, hasn’t ruled out a summer sale.
“I would consider that extremely unlikely. Of course, theoretically, astronomical sums can always come up, but I think I can pretty much rule that out for Nmecha this summer,” he said.

Newcastle United asked for exorbitant fee
The official has left a ‘small door open’ for his exit, and the German club would only consider selling him for over €100-120m. He had a release clause for this summer, although that has expired. The clause for next summer will be €80m.
Midfielders Sean Steur and Aladji Bamba have arrived in this window, while the Magpies are still working on adding Felix Nmecha to Matthias Jaissle’s squad.
Newcastle United would have to convince the player and make a big offer to BVB to sign the German. There are funds to carry out this operation. The Magpies have sold Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon and are on the verge of selling Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal.
