Fabrizio Romano confirms Manchester United can sign Lewis Hall only on one condition
Newcastle United fans won’t want to see any further major departure from this point onwards. The Magpies have already lost enough this summer. Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon have already left. And it is only a matter of time before Bruno Guimaraes is announced as a new Arsenal player as well.
On top of that, Eddie Howe decided to walk away from the managerial post in the middle of pre-season. And if you take Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool last summer, then the Magpies have lost their entire core within the past twelve months.
This has not stopped players from being linked with moves away though. Lewis Hall continues to be a topic of discussion. The left-back has been linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea. But a move to Old Trafford can only happen under one condition.
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said about the situation involving Hall, Man Utd and Newcastle:
“My understanding is that Man United are looking at left-back as a position to cover, so could be the next one for Manchester United for sure. But Lewis Hall at the moment is considered first of all too expensive and, second, Newcastle have absolutely no intention to proceed for this one.
“Newcastle already sold several big players. Sandro Tonali to Tottenham. Anthony Gordon to Barcelona, now Bruno Guimaraes is going to join Arsenal. Also, they lost the coach, Eddie Howe, and that’s also a massive blow. So now the understanding is that the story is going in that direction, with Newcastle trying their best to keep Lewis Hall. Only a crazy proposal could change the stance, could change the story.”
Lewis Hall’s Newcastle United exit seems unlikely
Under these circumstances, Hall leaving Newcastle United just feels a bit unlikely, if you ask me. The Magpies have already raised close to £250 million through exits this summer.
On top of that, there are players like Nick Pope, Joe Willock and Joelinton, who could still leave. So, there is no real reason for Newcastle United to even consider the idea of a move away.
Now, let us shift the focus towards Manchester United themselves. The Old Trafford outfit have also been linked with Antonee Robinson in recent weeks.
Robinson seems like a much more realistic signing for Man Utd at this point. So, do not expect to see Hall end up at Old Trafford in the near future.
Chelsea are out of the race as well
Chelsea, Hall’s former club, are another to be linked with the youngster in recent weeks. It is not hard to understand why as they have seen Marc Cucurella join Real Madrid recently.
That being said, Chelsea are on the verge of signing Pep Chavarria as his replacement. That is an interesting move for sure, as he does not have the pedigree of a Cucurella.
On paper, someone like Hall would have been a better signing for the Blues. But it looks like Chavarria is Xabi Alonso’s pick and he is the one they are going forward with.
Obviously, that is fantastic news for Newcastle United, who won’t have to deal with Chelsea being interested in signing Hall. That gives them a much better chance of holding on to the player.
