Manchester United have been told to land their own mini-Rodri in a transfer that could transform the club’s midfield. Manchester City’s Rodri looks set for an exit, with Barcelona having courted the World Cup-winning captain.
However, across town, United have been in the midst of their own midfield rebuild, with Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans having already joined the Red Devils, while Karl Darlow arrived as their fourth addition of the summer. But there has been a suggestion that yet more midfield additions could be made before September’s transfer deadline.
And according to one former United ace, the player they ought to be targeting next in that position is none other than Sander Berge. That’s according to Paul Parker, who has suggested Berge could turn out to be as transformative for United as Rodri was for their bitter cross-city rivals.
Speaking to PariuriX.com, the former player remarked: “I have seen that Sander Berge has been mentioned. I like him a lot. He is very steady and plays in a similar way to Rodri, even though he is still far from his level.”
“Sander Berge is a very positive player. Very rarely gives the ball away and he is excellent at controlling the midfield. He is a big guy and everything about him looks great. I totally get why the club might be looking at him. He is always playing games as well. He is never injured, which I really like because it adds some continuity to the team.”

Before adding: “He was excellent during the World Cup as well but I am not surprised because he always plays very well. I really like his career path, because he has slowly been making positive moves throughout his career and he has been a focal point at every single club he has been at.”
“I don't think Manchester United can say no to him. If he wants to join the club, I think it is a no-brainer. You can't say no to that. ”
At 28, Berge is in the peak years of his career, and has amassed plenty of Premier League experience from his spells with Sheffield United, Burnley and now Fulham. Berge has another three years left on his Fulham deal, meaning United would have to pay up to get him out of the Craven Cottage outfit.
