The Lakers superstar Luka Doncic is reportedly facing an ugly situation in his home country, just days following receiving good news in Los Angeles. His former fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, shortly after withdrawing her child support petition from the Los Angeles County Superior Court, has now apparently filed a petition in Slovenia seeking $50 million from Doncic.

But surprisingly, only $10 million of those are reported to be for child support, while $40 million seems to be appropriated for her to decide how to use as her own. This distinction raised a lot of uproar on social media, as fans were previously hoping this situation had been resolved.

Among the unsettled fans was Brandon Jennings, the former NBA player, who also expressed his opinions when he got this information on social media.

“Gold Digger. Like 90% of them,” Jennings wrote on X.

Considering the public statements that Luka Doncic has made about his daughters, and reportedly having decided to skip his national team commitments to spend time with his daughters, anyone is bound to be unhappy for Doncic upon hearing this news.

Doncic and Goltes were childhood sweethearts who apparently began dating as teenagers before moving to the US together, where they now have two daughters.

The news of Doncic’s separation from his soon-to-be-wife at the time came out in March when the Lakers star also publicly reaffirmed his commitment to being a better father for his daughters.

Although reports also came out that in December 2025, just days after his second daughter was born, an argument ensued between the couple that also drew attention from the police. While Doncic left before the police arrived, it also hints at an ugly side of this story that most of us are not aware of.

It is unclear what Anamaria Goltes’ side of the story is, and until she makes a statement about it, we can not distinguish most facts from rumors in this case. And while I understand the loyal sentiment of the Lakers’ fans to side with Doncic, let’s not jump to conclusions by maligning his ex-fiancée either.

What’s also noteworthy is that Goltes is reportedly seeking to restrict his time with his daughters from two days a week to one day a week. And nobody knows why she is asking for that. As a person who uprooted her entire life to go with Doncic to the United States, she might feel like she deserves to be compensated for that sacrifice. But it gets complicated when you think about the fact that they were never married.

So it is better to hope that the Slovenian court resolves their situation in a manner that is appeasing both parents, instead of throwing dirt on one side based on unilateral facts. We may think $40 million is too much to demand, but we still can’t speak to why she thinks she is entitled to it.

Neither Luka Doncic nor Anamaria Goltes has made a public statement about this matter, so let’s respect their privacy as they fight through what one can only imagine to be a very tough time in their lives.
