Manchester United predicted XI vs PSG as Tielemans could make debut

Michael Carrick has several major decisions to make for Saturday’s friendly in Gothenburg, with Bruno Fernandes returning and Youri Tielemans in contention for his Manchester United debut.

Our Manchester United predicted XI vs PSG also sees Diogo Dalot return at right-back while Bryan Mbeumo continues through the middle.

United face the European champions at the Nya Ullevi Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 4pm BST.

Carrick’s travelling group has received a major boost after several World Cup players returned to training this week.

Manchester United have confirmed that Fernandes, Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have travelled, while Tielemans is also included and could make his first appearance since completing his £35million move from Aston Villa.

Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens will miss the game because of separate minor illnesses and are expected to rejoin the squad for next week’s training camp in Ireland. United’s confirmed travelling squad for PSG

GK: Tom Heaton

With Lammens remaining at Carrington and Altay Bayindir leaving for Celta Vigo, Heaton is the obvious senior option in Gothenburg.

RB: Diogo Dalot

Dalot is available again after returning from World Cup duty. His inclusion should allow Carrick to move Leny Yoro back into his natural central role.

CB: Leny Yoro

Yoro has operated at right-back during pre-season, but the return of Dalot and Mazraoui gives Carrick greater freedom to use him centrally.

CB: Harry Maguire

Maguire offers experience alongside Yoro against a PSG attack capable of providing United’s toughest examination of the summer.

LB: Luke Shaw

Patrick Dorgu has regularly operated higher up the pitch during pre-season, leaving Shaw as the likely starting left-back.

CM: Andrey Santos

Santos should retain his place after gaining valuable minutes throughout the summer. Facing PSG will offer another indication of how quickly he is adapting.

CM: Youri Tielemans

This could be the moment United supporters finally see Tielemans.

The Belgian has travelled after returning from the World Cup, and Carrick may prefer to start him before managing his minutes rather than introducing him late.

ReadManUtd previously covered Tielemans’ £35m arrival and the control he can bring to Carrick’s midfield.

RW: Amad

Amad has another opportunity to establish himself in Carrick’s strongest attacking combination.

AM: Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes is back in the travelling squad and should immediately add creativity behind the striker.

LW: Patrick Dorgu

Dorgu’s attacking role has been one of Carrick’s more interesting pre-season experiments. With Cunha absent, there is another opportunity to test him further forward.

ST: Bryan Mbeumo

Benjamin Sesko is not part of the travelling squad, leaving Mbeumo as the most likely option through the middle after his excellent two-goal performance against Atlético Madrid.

Heaton; Dalot, Yoro, Maguire, Shaw; Santos, Tielemans; Amad, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo.

Carrick also has Mazraoui, Mason Mount, Joshua Zirkzee and highly-rated youngster Shea Lacey available from the bench.

The result remains secondary during pre-season, but PSG should provide Carrick with his clearest indication yet of how close United are to being ready for the new campaign.
