Richard Arnold’s major signings during his reign as Manchester United’s chief executive officer have now been brought down to two amid Ineos’ control at the club.

The former Manchester United figure had landed the role of CEO at the Premier League side after Ed Woodward made his exit from the position in 2022.

Richard Arnold’s time at Old Trafford and his role as Man Utd’s CEO came during the Erik ten Hag era before his departure from the Red Devils happened in 2023.

Ineos has been in control of football operations since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority stake purchase and Arnold’s signings have almost been wiped out by 2026.

Lisandro Martinez and Mason Mount are the only Man Utd stars in the current first-team squad at Old Trafford

Lisandro Martinez was reunited with former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag in 2023 under Richard Arnold’s role, while Mason Mount was signed in the same window.

As of this summer, both Mason Mount and Lisandro Martinez are the only two Arnold-led signings that are still in Michael Carrick’s first-team squad right now.

Andre Onana is still a Man Utd player, but the former Ajax star is not at Old Trafford

Andre Onana was offloaded from Old Trafford once again this summer and the Cameroon international is in his second consecutive loan spell at Trabzonspor.

Celta Vigo are expected to land the 28-year-old Turkish shot-stopper on a season-long loan, with Man Utd to include a buy option for the Spanish club to trigger in 2027.

Jonny Evans is the only Richard Arnold acquisition to have retired

Jonny Evans, who is now part of Michael Carrick’s United coaching staff, ended his second spell with the Red Devils in 2025 and subsequently retired from football.

Five former first-team Man Utd players from the Richard Arnold reign were either released or sold

Ineos have been able to cash in on some players from Arnold’s legacy, including selling Antony to Real Betis in 2025 and Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli in 2026.

Other former Man Utd players have left Old Trafford because their contracts were up and Ineos did not plan to hand them a new deal, which included Casemiro this summer.

Casemiro (contract expired in 2026)

Tyrell Malacia (contract expired in 2026)

Christian Eriksen (contract expired in 2025)
