Newcastle United contact Man Utd regarding £60m transfer
Following the departures of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes, it is safe to say Newcastle United find themselves in a tough situation. A lot of fans are worried that they might be potential relegation contenders.
On paper, that makes sense at this point in time. So, Newcastle United need to go out and make some genuine quality signings between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
They have been linked with players like Felix Nmecha, Angelo Stiller, and several more. Hopefully, a few of those rumours do end up coming true.
On the other hand, they cannot afford to let any more of their important players go. And they seem to have made a transfer decision already.
Newcastle United contact Man Utd
According to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, Newcastle United have informed Man Utd that Lewis Hall is not available for transfer this summer. An initial enquiry was rejected.
Newcastle United had turned down their enquiry for Hall nearly two weeks ago. The 21-year-old full-back will be staying on Tyneside.
So, that should be that when it comes to the Hall transfer saga. It is not hard to see why Man Utd might have been interested in signing him this summer, as they need to strengthen their full-back options.
That being said, Newcastle United are not interested in letting Hall leave in this window. And it is a very understandable stance on the part of the Magpies.
Why Newcastle cannot entertain Lewis Hall transfer talk
Newcastle United have also raised around £250 million, including bonuses, from the transfers of Gordon, Tonali and Guimaraes this summer. So, financially, there should not be any reason for them to allow the team to get even weaker.
They need to be very careful. This is a side that had come 12th in the Premier League last season and have lost their three best players.
On top of that, they have seen Eddie Howe head for the exit door as well. He has been replaced by Matthias Jaissle. For all his success at RB Salzburg and Al-Ahli, he is a rookie in the Premier League.
So, the last thing Newcastle United need right now is to lose another one of their top players. And one could argue that Hall is the best they have left following the recent departures. He should be one of the faces of the club moving forward, not someone heading for the exit door.
