Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has agreed to join Spanish side Celta Vigo on loan for the 2026/27 season, subject to registration, the Premier League club said on Saturday.
The 28-year-old Turkey international will spend the campaign in La Liga after making six appearances for United last season, his third since arriving at Old Trafford from Fenerbahce in 2023.
Bayindir joined United with competition for the goalkeeper position and made his first-team debut against Newport County in January 2024. He has since made 17 appearances for the club across all competitions.
The move to Celta provides Bayindir with the opportunity for regular first-team football in Spain as he begins a new chapter in his career.
Celta enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign, finishing sixth in La Liga under head coach Claudio Giraldez. Their league position secured European football for the coming season, with the Galician club set to compete in the UEFA Europa League.
Bayindir will now link up with a Celta squad preparing for the demands of domestic and European competition, with the club aiming to build on last season’s strong finish.
The goalkeeper’s departure on loan leaves Manchester United to assess their options between the posts ahead of the new campaign. Bayindir had remained part of the club’s goalkeeping group since his arrival from Fenerbahce, where he established himself as one of Turkey’s leading goalkeepers.
At Celta, Bayindir will face a new challenge in La Liga and will be expected to compete for playing time as the club balances its domestic commitments with its return to European competition.
The loan is subject to registration, with the final formalities expected to be completed before Bayindir begins his spell in Vigo.
For Manchester United, the temporary move offers Bayindir an opportunity to gain further experience at a high level while remaining under contract with the Premier League club. For Celta, his arrival adds depth and experience to a squad preparing for what promises to be a demanding season.
