Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall has been sent home from their warm-weather pre-season training camp in La Manga nursing a minor injury. The 21-year-old, who is a transfer target for Manchester United this summer, has returned to Tyneside, with the rest of his teammates set to take on Valencia this evening.
The Magpies having already knocked back an initial approach from Michael Carrick's side and remain resolute that Hall will not be offloaded this summer. Newcastle have already lost Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon during the current window.
Eddie Howe's exit from the club has only fuelled further conjecture surrounding Hall's future, though the club have stressed Hall won't be sold.
The left-back is a key part of both the club and Matthias Jaissle's plans for this season, as the new German head coach plans his St. James' Park rebuild.
Chronicle Live reports that Hall and fellow defender Fabian Schar have been granted time away following the warm-weather camp in La Manga to recuperate from their respective injuries.
The England international has been carrying out a separate training programme from his Newcastle teammates in Spain, concentrating on upper-body work.
Hall will play no part for new head coach Jaissle in his first match at the helm against Valencia this evening.

Man United are believed to be eager to bring in a new full-back this summer, with Carrick holding Hall in high regard.
Recent reports suggest the defender would welcome a move to Old Trafford if a fee could be agreed, though Newcastle have taken a firm stance following a turbulent summer of departures.
The Reds have also been connected with a potential swoop for Racing Santander defender Jorge Salinas.
Nevertheless, the La Liga outfit have made it plain the 19 year old will only be offloaded if his £13.7million release clause is triggered.
Barcelona have also been associated with a move for the defender, having had an offer turned down earlier this summer.
Luke Shaw remains United's first-choice at left-back, with Carrick choosing to deploy Patrick Dorgu in a more attacking role and the club are eager to bolster that area of the defence.
