Radek Vitek left Manchester United permanently today, joining Championship side Middlesbrough.
Vitek was on loan at Bristol City last season where he scooped the Player of the Year award for his efforts throughout the campaign.
The shot-stopper is not the first person to leave Old Trafford on a permanent basis this summer and follows 13 players out of the door (either on loan or permanently) including fellow goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and Brazilian international Casemiro.
After signing for Boro, Vitek expressed his excitement, saying: “The project here is very impressive, because you can clearly see the ambition and where the club wants to go.”
He has now sent a goodbye message to Manchester United supporters, posting on Instagram as he closes a chapter of his career.
Taking to the social media platform, the goalkeeper published a graphic with key memories whilst also captioning the post, saying: “I’m incredibly grateful for every moment, every lesson, and every person I’ve met along the way.
“It has truly been a honour to be part of this club.
“Thank you for everything.”
Manchester United, too, took to Instagram to pass on the club’s best wishes, stating: “Model professional. Popular member of our Academy. First-team ready.
“Thank you for everything over the last six years and good luck, Radek”.
Some current first-team members commented on Vitek’s Instagram post to pass on their farewell messages and best wishes, too.
Shea Lacey, who has come through the Manchester United academy like Radek Vitek, commented the red heart emoji.
Tyler Fredricson, who left Manchester United to join Lausanne-Sport late last month, also commented the red heart emoji.
Vitek featured in two of United’s three pre-season matches, against Wrexham and Rosenberg, before departing.
Full focus for the shot-stopper will now be on preparing for this season with Middlesbrough.
