Manchester United continued their pre-season campaign with a face-off with European Champions Paris Saint-Germain in Sweden.

An opportunity for new signing Youri Tielemans to make his debut as a red and for the returning Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui and Bruno Fernandes to reintegrate back into the squad following their World Cup campaigns.

An early goal from Ibrahim Mbaye, escaping the eye of Ayden Heaven to poke home a cross from Dro Fernandez, gave the Parisians the lead with only two minutes played. A familiar sight with United conceding within the first five minutes in back-to-back games.

It took a quick move from Amad to level the scoring. The Ivorian won the ball in a dangerous position, sliding in Bryan Mbeumo, who slotted his effort past Matvey Safanov into the far corner.

United's goal didn't see much action from that point onwards, with PSG limited to only three shots on target compared to United's seven. Ultimately, the full-time whistle sounded with another 90 minutes under the belts of the United players as the first game of the Premier League season edges closer.

Amad Gives Instant Reaction To PSG Draw

After a top performance, Amad spoke out on his view of the game, pushing the European Champions all the way.

He told MUTV: "Good game. We knew how good PSG are, but we got some more fitness. We're happy some other players got back into the team."

Pre-season has expectedly displayed huge rotation within Carrick's squad with many academy players having the chance to perform in the absence of United's World Cup stars, but this rotation has not knocked the confidence of the side heading into these games.

Amad, in particular, had a standout performance, embodying Carrick's ideal philosophy of football at United. The Ivorian was a pressing machine against the French giants, winning possession in dangerous areas on multiple occasions, ultimately earning United's goal.

This is a trait which saw him become a star of Ruben Amorim's Man United squad creating goals against the likes of Everton and Southampton in a similar fashion.

United Look Towards Leeds And AC Milan

As the squad slowly comes back together again, United turn their attention towards rivals Leeds United and their former boss, Ruben Amorim, who now steers the ship at AC Milan.

United play Leeds on August 12th before facing the Italian giants on the 15th. There are still issues that need addressing for United this window, with the new injury to Mason Mount now emphasising the need for another midfielder.

The initial performances from Andrey Santos and Tielemans have been encouraging, but balancing two games per week would put significantly more physical demand on the squad.

What has been a confident start to pre-season should only get stronger as United's squad becomes complete again with Matheus Cunha, Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford still to re-join the squad.
