Man Utd given incentive to sign 22yo Spanish star, available for£22m - view

Manchester United have the opportunity to sign Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado this summer.

The Red Devils have already recruited Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans to reinforce their midfield, but they remain open to pursuing another signing for the department.

Casado has been linked with United in recent months, and the door has now opened to land his signature. Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for the Spaniard.

Man Utd should consider Casado as third midfield signing

The 22-year-old has been a solid squad player for the Blaugrana, but he is expected to leave to make room for the high-profile arrival of Rodri from Manchester City.

Casado would be a good acquisition for the Red Devils, given he is a quality ball-playing midfielder. His ball control has been another big strength of his at the Blaugrana.

In the recent La Liga campaign, Casado played just over 1,000 minutes. The La Masia graduate had a passing accuracy of 91 percent, losing possession less than five times per game.

Marca have reported that he is valued at around £22 million. For that price, the Spaniard would be a superb bargain signing, given he is only 22 and has plenty of room for development.

United presently have Santos, Tielemans, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount as the senior candidates to start in central midfield, given captain Bruno Fernandes will play higher up next season.

Mount recently suffered an injury scare in the friendly against Paris Saint-Germain. He was substituted early in the opening half, but manager Michael Carrick clarified that the midfielder just received a big kick.

With Mount’s injury record, United could well spend on a third midfielder this summer. Casado would be a fine addition, but the club need to act quickly as there will be plenty of interest in signing him.
