Danny Welbeck has revealed how impactful Man Utd’s dressing room culture was for him amid his Chelsea playing spell now
Danny Welbeck emerged in the Manchester United first-team squad in the tail end of Sir Alex Ferguson’s legendary managerial reign at Old Trafford.
The former Arsenal star crossed paths with a star-studded roster of players at Man Utd, including Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs.
Welbeck played in the Red Devils’ season after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as Man Utd manager in 2013 before he was sold to Arsenal in 2014 for a £16m fee.
Speaking to Chelsea’s club media in the first interview since he signed, Welbeck revealed that his ‘blueprint’ as a player has been shaped by experiences at United.
“I grew up in a great dressing room, where the characters there were unbelievable and that set me in good stead, you know, with my work ethic,” he said, as per Chelsea’s official YouTube channel.

Welbeck added: “Everything I do every single day [by] trying to improve and trying to get better and also helping those around you as well.
“So, yeah, I played with some really, really good players and, yeah, it’s also helped me to improve as a player, too.”
Welbeck, who made his Man Utd first-team debut in 2008, made 142 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils and netted 29 times for the club.
The Chelsea striker lifted two League Cups at Old Trafford and was part of Man Utd’s last Premier League-title winning side under Ferguson in the 2012-13 campaign.
