Russell Westbrook set the record straight that he could not care less about his future in the NBA.
As such, despite still being an unsigned free agent this offseason, the former league superstar and MVP remains eager to continue his NBA career.
“I don’t [think about it], honestly," Westbrook said on CNN's "The Story Is with Elex Michaelson" as he was asked about where he is heading next.
"I love playing basketball and if it happens, it works, and that’s my plan.”

Russell Westbrook remains available for service and is one of the key unrestricted free agents left in the market.
For his 18th campaign, he spent the past 2025-26 NBA season with the Sacramento Kings, averaging 15.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds across 76 appearances.
Past reports have indicated that the Kings are considering a reunion with Westbrook, as they see the former NBA star as a potential vital mentor to their new franchise centerpiece, Darius Acuff Jr.
Given his numbers, Westbrook still appears capable of producing and contributing. And given the Kings' perspective on him, he can also still make an impact off the court.
As he remains on the lookout for the next stop of his Hall of Fame career, Westbrook is keeping himself patient for a new opportunity.
