Tyler Herro is not paying attention to his current contract situation as he begins a new chapter with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The new Bucks star addressed his contract extension eligibility with his hometown team and made it clear that he is not occupied by it.
“I’m not really worried about it right now,” Herro said, per Steve Megargee of the Associated Press. “It’s a new slate for me, for the coaches, really for the organization as a whole.
"I don’t think that needs to be a burden over anyone’s shoulders.”

In the biggest trade move of this year's offseason, the Miami Heat traded Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, the No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft (Nate Ament), two unprotected first-round selections (2031 and 2033), a 2030 pick swap, and a 2033 second-round pick to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis.
Herro will earn $33 million in 2026-27 for the final year of his current contract, and it remains unclear whether he and the Bucks will reach a new deal.
The 26-year-old has served as Miami's franchise star since being drafted at No. 13 in the 2018 NBA Draft. Herro saw the most challenging campaign of his career last season, as he struggled to be healthy upon appearing in just 33 games, tallying 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.

As he served as the Miami Heat's main trade piece for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tyler Herro knows within himself that he has a lot to prove next season as the Milwaukee Bucks' newest star.
Regardless of his current contract standing, Herro is motivated to lead the Bucks in defying expectations.
“I probably have the biggest chip on my shoulder that I’ve had in my career, coming to Milwaukee,” Herro said. “We’ve been through a lot. Just being able to come here with a new slate, a brand-new team, a brand-new organization, a brand-new coaching staff. … We all have chip on our shoulders.
"Coach Jenkins himself has a chip on his shoulder, the guys who came in the trade with me. It’s not just about me. I think everyone on the team has a chip.”
