Former Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis revealed details of a meeting in the NBA bubble in 2020, where teams were deciding whether to continue playing.
According to AD, every team in the bubble gathered to a meeting to vote if they want to continue playing and the vote of LeBron James was the only one that really mattered.
"We actually had a meeting, and guys was like, 'What y'all want to do? Want to shut this s**t down?' And everybody was looking at LeBron," Davis revealed.
"We all in the room. CJ McCollum's hosting the meeting, and they like, 'What y'all want to do?' Bron said we staying. No other vote matters," the big man emphasized.
The NBA bubble produced one of the league's most unique championships
The 2020 NBA bubble remains one of the most unusual chapters in league history.
After the COVID-19 pandemic suspended the season in March, the NBA eventually resumed play at Walt Disney World in Orlando, where 22 teams lived and competed in a closed environment without traditional home-court advantage or fans in attendance.
The format created unique circumstances, but the Los Angeles Lakers emerged as the last team standing. Led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Los Angeles defeated the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets before beating the Miami Heat in six games in the NBA Finals.
James was named Finals MVP after averaging 29.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists in the series, while Davis provided elite scoring and defense throughout the postseason.
The championship was the Lakers' 17th in franchise history and their first since 2010. Although the bubble title has remained a subject of debate because of the unprecedented environment, every contender competed under the same conditions, and Los Angeles ultimately handled them better than anyone else.
