Victor Wembanyama‘s become an instant NBA superstar since making his way to America, but the internet is quickly latching onto “Indian Wemby” after a number of viral clips.
Jagmeet Singh is an internet highlight machine since being discovered as a 14 year old in his native India. However, the young basketball prodigy has NBA hopes after coming to the United States to play and attend school.

The 7-feet 4-inches Singh is drawing stark comparisons to the San Antonio Spurs superstar as he prepares to enter college basketball in 2027.
India isn’t traditionally a country that boasts a lot of basketball talent despite the country’s interest in the NBA. Sim Bhullar and Satnam Singh are just two of the success stories that come from the Asian nation over the years.
However, the hype surrounding the 18-year-old Singh continues to grow as he shows off his elite skills and movement. It’s rare to boast that combination for a player of his size, and yet it appears effortless similarly to Wembanyama.

The NBA’s initiatives to become a more global game have certainly resulted in success for players of many descents. Wembanyama is considered one of the best in the league after coming to the U.S. from France.
Meanwhile, other recent NBA MVPs include foreign-born stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo. It’s too early to know if Singh could ever reach that type of level, but the pathway does exist.

Singh’s currently in the process of being scouted for college basketball programs ahead of next year. However, the excitement around the player continues to build with his social media fame.

The teenage star is currently living in Chicago as he trains for the next level, but is heading to Florida academy Victory Rock to play his final high school season in the fall.
