The 20-year-old scored eight goals and added eight assists in 21 appearances for Lyon during his loan spell.
Endrick was subsequently part of the Brazil squad in North America, featuring four times for Carlo Ancelotti's side.
A move to Villa Park would bolster Unai Emery's front line ahead of their Champions League campaign.
Last season's fourth place finish in the Premier League means Villa will return to Europe's premier club competition.
They are also set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday as a reward for their Europa League triumph.

Watkins finished last term as Villa's top scorer with 21 goals across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Abraham found the net three times following his January arrival from Besiktas.

As for Madjo, the 17-year-old has been the standout performer in pre-season for Villa.
He has already scored four goals for the club this summer and started their latest outing against Bayern Munich on Friday.

Emery has already signed four new players this summer, including the club-record signing of Johan Manzambi from Freiburg.
Midfielder Joao Gomes has also arrived from Wolves along with the loan signing of Chelsea's Alejandro Garnacho.
Youngster Modou Keba Cisse has joined the club from Austrian outfit LASK.
There have been notable departures, though, with Morgan Rogers joining Chelsea in a British-record £117million deal.
